Tom Dodd Nursey opened its doors and was originally named Dodd and Welch Nursery.

Dodd and Welch Nursery officially became Tom Dodd Nurseries. They grew and

innovated in the industry for many years and became a well-known name in the nursery industry.

2005

John Williams Jr. Purchased Tom Dodd Nurseries from the Dodd family and kept the

well-known name and continued to grow and innovate the business.

2015-2019

Tom Dodd Nurseries has acquired property surrounding our nursery to expand and add more production area. These acquisitions include the Tate Green Houses and Dodd and Dodd adding 10 acres in 2015. The property of Kinney Nursery from The Kinney family, which added 65 more acres in 2017. In 2019 purchased the remaining 32 acres from Kinney Nursery.

2024-2025

John was featured in the Mobile Bay issie of "Semmes: City of New Growth"

Tom Dodd Nurseries expanded its footprint with the acquisition of The Old Blackwell Nursery, adding 56 acres adjacent to the north side of the nursery. An additional 39 acres were also purchased from the Dodd family, creating a direct connection to our propagation division. In October 2025, Tom Dodd Nurseries further strengthened its growing operations by acquiring Van Der Giessen Nursery, expanding our liner production capabilities and positioning us for continued growth in the years ahead.

TODAY

Tom Dodd Nurseries spans 494 total acres, with nearly 340 acres in operation and significant room for future expansion. As we continue to grow the TDN brand, we remain committed to providing exceptional plants, outstanding service, and innovative solutions to customers near and far.
